Passport and ID card OCR, with machine-readable zone checks

Read passports, ID cards and visas into labelled fields, in Arabic and English, with the passport's machine-readable lines proved by their own check digits.

The problem

  • Typing names and numbers from IDs by hand is slow and error-prone.
  • Arabic names, Latin transliterations and numbers sit side by side on the same card.
  • One misread digit in a passport number can derail a visa or a contract.

How LexaOCR handles it

  1. The document type is recognised and the page is returned as label and value fields.
  2. The two machine-readable lines of a passport are checked with the ICAO check-digit rules; a single misread digit is corrected when the check proves it.
  3. Arabic and English text are read separately, each in its own direction.

What you get

  • Labelled fields you can copy
  • A verified machine-readable zone
  • A Word file laid out like the card
